Norene Ranches
The farming community of Rio Oso is nestled alongside the Bear River in South
Sutter County. To the north Dry Creek, to the south Yankee Slough, they identify
the borders that capture the deep, rich and fertile soils of this orchard oasis.
This haven produces some of the world's premium walnut crops. It was here in
1954 that Roy Norene began what is now Norene Ranches. Today Roy's sons, Donald
and Jerry, along with his grandson, Davin, continue the farming traditions that
he started 52 years ago.
Norene Ranches have been and still are a diversified farming operation; which
focuses on walnuts, rice and cattle. Walnuts have become the primary crop
because of a growing concern for healthy living, a nutritious diet and an
overall high quality of life. The omega three fatty acids in walnuts make it
the world's healthiest nut. Walnuts are one of the number one whole foods for
a person's heart.
Norene Ranches, now farms 750 acres of walnuts. The Norene family's pursuit of
the highest quality, drives close examination of their farming practices,
utilizing innovative growing techniques while maintaining good stewardship of
the land through sustainable agriculture. Norene Ranches proudly leads the way
in producing the world's finest walnuts. We hope that our customers take as
much satisfaction in eating these tasty and healthy walnuts as we do in
producing them. Thank you and enjoy!
