Johl Company
The beginnings of Johl Company trace back to 1963 when Gurbax Johl and his
eldest son, Parmjit, immigrated to the United States, while looking to build
a better life for their family who were still living in the Punjab region of
India. From the humble beginnings of working for other local farmers they
were able to save up enough money to purchase the family's first cling peach
orchard in 1966. This paved the way for the arrival of the rest of the Johl
family, including youngest son Sarb.
Sarb Johl spent his teenage years in the peach orchards of Yuba County working
alongside his father and brother. He developed a love for both the land and
the farming way of life. Sarb officially joined the family business as a
partner in 1976 after graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Sarb's passion for the business led to the expansion of the company to include,
prunes and walnuts in addition to cling peaches. Sarb embraced new,
cutting-edge technologies by pioneering the implementation of water conserving
irrigation systems. A devotion to providing consumers with healthy food and a
belief in the virtues of sustainable agriculture encouraged Johl Co. to begin
growing organic walnuts in 2002.
In 2006, Johl Co. set a course to deliver the high-quality, nutritious, organic
walnuts grown in their orchards directly to the consumer by processing and
packaging their own walnuts.
Today, Johl Co. remains a family operated business. We hope you enjoy eating our
organic walnuts as much as we enjoy bringing them to you.
